Dream Comes True for Greater Illiana Sports Hall of Fame

The dream of creating a Greater Illiana Sports Hall of Fame is becoming a reality at the Palmer Arena in Danville, IL. The Greater Illiana Sports Hall of Fame is designed to honor outstanding athletic achievements by athletes, coaches, teams, and others from 50 high schools and Danville Area Community College in eastern Illinois and western Indiana. Names of potential honorees come from recommendations and suggestions from area residents. All the individuals and teams in the Greater Illiana Sports Hall of Fame have unique stories of their achievements and contributions to the community. The mission of the Hall of Fame is to celebrate and preserve memories in order to allow future generations to enjoy and appreciate the success experienced by those in athletics in the Eastern Illinois and Western Indiana areas. Funds generated from ticket sales, advertising, and sponsorship will assist in raising money for scholarships benefiting local students and youth sports programs.
